The blog series about National Game and Puzzle Week continues! We're taking a quick look at fast-moving games. I personally LOVE this type of game. My mother does NOT. She’s always telling me to slow down.
Big Boggle
Shake up the 25 letter cubes and try to spot as many hidden words as you can. Race against the 3-minute sand timer as you follow adjoining letters, every which way, searching for words that you hope your opponents won't find.
Clack!
Roll the dice to get a color and shape, then race to stack up all the magnetic discs with that combination. The player with the tallest stack wins!
Color Clash
Race to find the correct tile as the colors clash in your mind! Each of the 36 Color Clash tiles has 3 Attributes: A Picture of different color chameleons, a Word that refers to a specific color, and a Color that the Word is written in. Your mind will be challenged to quickly recognize the color a word is written in when it spells another color, also known as the "Stroop Effect".
Dutch Blitz
Enjoy spirited competition as you try to get rid of your 10 card Blitz pile before anybody else. Not as easy as it sounds, though, because players don't take turns. You have to be the fastest to place your cards in sequence and in the same respective colors on the center Dutch piles while using as many cards from your Blitz Pile as possible. When your Blitz Pile has been exhausted, you've won. The game includes four decks of four colorful playing cards and easy to follow instructions. Two to four players can play this fast moving game.
Fold It
Your goal is to cook recipes the fastest, based on the order cards. When the order card is revealed, everyone starts cooking at the same time. Each player takes their individual recipe cloth and folds in it such a way that it only shows the items displayed on the card. When you finish cooking an order, quickly grab a fold-it token. When there are no more fold-it tokens remaining, the round is over. If you made the wrong order or did not grab a fold-it token because you were the last to finish, you have to discard one of your three Star tokens. Once a player loses all three of their Star tokens, they’re out of the game. Be the last player left with Star tokens and – you win!
Happy Salmon
There are no turns. Players call out the action shown on their cards as fast as they can. When two players have a match, they celebrate by performing the action. Actions include the classic "High 5", the unifying "Pound It", the frantic "Switcheroo", and the delightful “Happy Salmon”. Each time a player celebrates a match, they quickly discard a card. The first person to get rid of all their cards wins.
Mesozooic
The age of dinosaurs is back--this time safely behind glass! The public can't wait to get a glimpse, and it's your job to satisfy their curiosity by building the best dino zoo. You have three rounds to draft the most exciting attractions and slide them into place in this frantic, real-time puzzle game. Choose wisely, build quickly, and wow your guests. At the end of the game, the player with the most points wins!
Wig Out
Flip your wig for this fast and frenzied card game that will put your frizzy in a tizzy! Race against your opponents to get rid of cards by matching all kinds of colorful hairstyles. Put together a pair of Pigtails. Combine a couple of Cornrows. Match a Mullet or some Mohawks. The first player out of cards is a cut above the rest!
Zip Zap
Sparks are gonna fly in this lightning-fast card game! Quickly rid your hand of cards by playing numbers in order. Lay down a run and consider yourself in the zone. But don’t get caught ZZZ-ing or else Zap! – another player will steal the lead! Be the first one out of cards and zero in on the win!
