October is National Pizza Month.

We’re halfway through National Pizza Month!  How much pizza have you eaten so far in celebration?  I haven’t eaten NEARLY enough.  I also haven’t had my fill of pizza books yet.  How about you?  Here are some of the latest slices of pizza literature available at Hoover Public Library.

Pizza and Taco: Super-Awesome Comic! by Stephen Shaskan (08/10/21)
When you love comics like Pizza and Taco do, the next step after reading them is to collaborate on one!! But what happens when they run up against "artistic differences?" Who gets to have the bigger muscles and the more rad superpowers? Can these two strong-willed foodstuffs compromise and make a comic that is more awesome than the sum of its parts?

A Pizza with Everything On It by Kyle Scheele (04/27/21 – ebook on Hoopla)
It's a tale as old as time: a kid wants to make a pizza with his dad, but not just any pizza . . . he wants a pizza with everything on it. That's right, everything. But as the toppings pile on, this father-son duo accidentally create a pizza so delicious, so extravagant, so over-the-top, that it destroys the universe—and the cosmos go as dark as burnt crust. Will anyone enjoy pizza ever again?

Dino Detective & Awesome Possum: The Case of the Nibbled Pizza by Tadgh Bentley (03/09/21)
When Grandma Thunderclaps's pizza is found with all the pepperoni missing, who's to blame? Dad's been at work, Grandma's a strict vegetarian, and everyone knows Plant couldn't be the culprit... So with a thirst for the truth, and a hunger for justice (and pizza), our heroes are on the case!

It’s Kind of a Cheesy Love Story by Lauren Morrill (03/09/21)
After her mother gave birth to her in the bathroom of a local pizzeria, Beck has been given the dubious privilege of having minor fame, free pizza for life, and a guaranteed job when she turns sixteen―a job she unfortunately can’t afford to turn down.  Now she's stuck with her geeky co-workers instead of taking Instagram-ready shots with her best friends (and her epic crush).  But maybe the pizza people aren't all bad. Maybe that pizza delivery guy is kind of cute. And maybe there's a way to make this Bathroom Baby thing work for her. Because when disaster strikes the beloved pizza place that's started to feel like home, she's going to need a miracle―one that might even mean bringing her two worlds together.

Every Night Is Pizza Night by J. Kenji López-Alt (09/01/20)
Pipo thinks that pizza is the best. No, Pipo knows that pizza is the best. It is scientific fact. But when she sets out on a neighborhood-spanning quest to prove it, she discovers that "best" might not mean what she thought it meant.  Join Pipo as she cooks new foods with her friends Eugene, Farah, Dakota, and Ronnie and Donnie. Each eating experiment delights and stuns her taste buds. Is a family recipe for bibimbap better than pizza? What about a Moroccan tagine that reminds you of home? Or is the best food in the world the kind of food you share with the people you love?
